How to convert a PDF into signage

Post by mjstrand »

PDF documents are not usually great digital signage content because they have too many words and are in a vertical format. There are times when displaying a pdf document on your signage can be helpful.

If your digital signage system does not have the ability to directly show pdf documents, you can easily create an image that will work in all digital signage systems.

1) Open the pdf document using Adobe pdf reader.
2) Select File, Export, Image, JPEG.
3) Click the Settings button
4) Set the Resolution to 150 pixels per inch and click ok
5) Save the .jpg image to a place where you can find it
6) Update your digital signage - remember to set the page duration (dwell time) to a setting that is long enough for people to be able to read the content.

If the pdf document is protected, you may not be able to do an export. Contact the provider for an unprotected version or ask them to create the .jpg image for you.
